Week 3 Post 1

Do you live with high blood pressure? You are a part of the 67 million Americans who live with high blood pressure according to the Center for Disease Control. High blood pressure can bring about other serious health conditions and could lead to death if not treated properly. Today’s Medi-Rents blog will bring you important information about how high blood pressure can affect your life.

Eat healthy to lower your blood pressure. What you eat directly correlates with your blood pressure levels. The first thing you can do to change your diet is to reduce your sodium intake. Most Americans consume too much sodium, which causes higher blood pressure. Less sodium = lower blood pressure. Be aware of what kind of food you’re eating so you can cut back on the bad and eat healthier, fresh foods.

Ask your doctor what your goal blood pressure should be. Setting a goal to lower your blood pressure can positively impact your overall health. Along with making a goal to lower your blood pressure with your healthcare provider, be sure to take your blood pressure medication regularly. If you ever have trouble with your medication schedule, dosage or cost, contact your doctor to make your medication easier for you.

Other healthy habits to pick up for lower blood pressure. Exercise is the next best thing you can do besides eating better and lowering your sodium intake. Be sure to get at least 30 minutes of physical activity in each day. Physical activity includes: cardio exercise, walking your dog, gardening and anything else that gets you moving. If you don’t have time for physical activity every day, make a goal to at least be physical three times per week.

High blood pressure can lead to a number of health consequences, so keeping it under control is vital.

May is National Blood Pressure Education Month and Medi-Rents wants to be sure that you are educated on everything that has to deal with blood pressure.

Did you know that one of three American adults has high blood pressure? That’s 67 million people! Unfortunately, more than half of these people with high blood pressure do not have their condition under control. Medi-Rents wants to be sure that you maintain a healthy blood pressure and if not, at least know how to control it.

Since it is High Blood Pressure Education Month, there is no better time to find out how to take control of your blood pressure goal. If you have high blood pressure, Medi-Rents has come up with a few steps that can help you get it under control:

  • Participate in 30 minutes of moderate physical activity on three or more days of the week.
  • Eat a healthy diet that is high in fruits and vegetables. Foods with high sodium can cause a raise in high blood pressure, so try to avoid foods with high sodium, saturated fats, trans fat and cholesterol.
  • At your next doctors’ visit, ask your doctor what your blood pressure is and what it should be. If it is too high, set a lower goal with your doctor and discuss ways that you can reach this goal.
  • Take your blood pressure medication as directed, and if you are having trouble ask your doctor what you can do to make it easier. If you are experiencing negative side effects, don’t wait to tell your doctor, give them a call and discuss the alternative medication that you can take.

It is important that people with high blood pressure take control of it quickly as it could lead to more serious health issues, as blood pressure tends to rise with age.

When it comes to high blood pressure control, everyone has a goal. Medi-Rents believes that together, we can all make control our goal this May. Get your blood pressure under control today!

How common is high blood pressure? Your friends at Medi-Rents and Sales want you to know that it’s more common than you think and more common than it should be. One in three adults worldwide has high blood pressure. The numbers in the U.S. are pretty alarming too. The statistics of high blood pressure increases with age, from 1 in 10 people in their 20s and 30s to a staggering 5 in 10 people in their 50s.

Your blood pressure depends a lot on what you eat and how much exercise you get.

Your blood pressure depends a lot on what you eat and how much exercise you get.

World Health Day is celebrated in April to bring awareness global health concerns. The focus for 2013 is high blood pressure. High blood pressure is a common problem in the U.S. and around the world that leads to many other health related issues.

High blood pressure (also called raised blood pressure or hypertension) is both preventable and treatable. Education about sodium and other causes both here in the US and around the world is the key to making these positive changes. The risk of developing high blood pressure can be reduced by:

  • Reducing salt intake
  • Eating a balanced diet
  • Avoiding harmful use of alcohol
  • Regular physical activity/exercise
  • Maintaining a healthy body weight
  • Avoiding tobacco use (all kinds)

Those are some of the ways of controlling high blood pressure, but do you really need to be concerned? How much do you know about this potentially deadly condition?

High blood pressure increases the risk of heart attacks, strokes and kidney failure in both men and women.

High blood pressure can also cause blindness, irregular heartbeat and heart failure if it is not properly diagnosed and treated. These risks of complications increase if there are other factors such as diabetes present. This makes diabetes diagnosis, treatment and management even more important and we want to help you with that.

Medi-Rents and Sales has many options for people dealing with high blood pressure.
